Avira AntiVir identifies jQuery as a Virus

Since the latest Avira AntiVir Update (23.04.2009) the production code (minified and gzipped) of the JavaScript framework jQuery seems to be identified as a Java Script virus. Thus all websites using jQuery.min.js are blocked by AntiVir.

Quickfix: Use the Development code, which is not affected by this problem.

Netd@ys Austria Dialogue Night 2008

Die Grafik Had an amazing night at the Netd@ys Austria Dialogue Night 2008 in the Red Bull Hangar7 yesterday. 10 nominees in both categories (web and video) were tensely awaiting who’s going to be the winner in each category. Great showacts underlined the whole evening. (e.g. Thomas Öhler | Trialbiker, Red Bull)

I was even more suprised and glad when the speaker announced that my web project “Facebook Application - Intercultural” is the winner…

A post with more details and a photo-gallery will follow in the next days!

Twistori

Twistori

A few days ago I found a nice twitter-experiment on Facebook’s feed (thanks Nate!), called Twistori. Its actually quite simply. It’s drawing data from Summize (The Twitter Search in realtime) searching for sentences starting with “I love, hate, think, wish, feel, …” and displaying them in a nicely designed and java-script-animated website. (at first sight I thought this must be flash, because of the font-rendering and the smooth animations, but well yeah it’s JS)

I really like the idea, and for some people this might be a kinda funny way of pastime :) But that’s only the first step of the experiment, lets see what’s coming next!

Furthermore this shows that there is a lot of potential using Twitter messages outside of Twitter. How about displaying them on a brand’s website displaying only messages containing the brand’s name … but well yeah you kinda should filter out bad words to avoid displaying messages that you don’t want to show up.

The current offering includes only own-productions like “ComedyStreet”, “Germany’s next Topmodel” and “Switch Reloaded”. But ProSieben is not the first German TV station offering such a service. RTL-now.de, where RTL shows and series can be watched On-Demand, went already online in 2007.

“MeinVZ” should launch this night

Die Grafik The German social network http://www.meinvz.net should launch this night. It is an addition to German’s biggest community StudiVZ (about 8 million users). Twitter breaks the news cycle down to seconds

Twitter

Last night there was an earthquake in the UK. The first media, to inform about the earthquake was Twitter. BBC had the story up a full 30 minutes after it had first been posted on Twitter. As we can see Twitter breaks the news cycle down to seconds, allowing instantaneous distribution of breaking news as it breaks - faster even than blogs, television or radio.
